This track moves back and forth between old-school hip hop, the Bebop era of jazz, and New Orleans-influenced second line traditions. Each style “gives” and “receives” from the other. What goes around, comes around; that is “the promise”. It was a complete joy to have my children join me in contributing the vocals on the hook, and an honor to have solos from Freddie Dunn and Joakim Toftgaard on trumpet and trombone, respectively.
